'Carousel' is the debut single from enigmatic new project A Blaze of Feather. Surrounded in a Ben Howard-shaped shadow the track comes shrouded in mystery and yet wouldn't feel out of place on the household name's brilliant last full-length. However the band, who will release an accompanying EP via Howard's own Hell Up Records on 5 May, is actually the music of his long-standing guitarist and friend Mickey Smith, aided by the same, sprawling six-piece band as Ben, including ex-Hiss Golden Messenger drummer, Kyle Keegan. It's a beautifully atmospheric introduction to an exciting new project on which we'll be keeping a close eye. -G.O'B
